The Youngest Web Designer Girl Of the World

The web world web is under the feet of this 10-year-old petite girl from Kozhikode in Indian state Kerala. Sreelakshmi Suresh was born in 1998 to lawyer Suresh Menon and a school teacher mother Viju Suresh. And she made the news headlines not now. Some good two years back, when she was only eight by designing her own school’s website `www.presentationhss.com

This extraordinaire girl has won several honours, scrolls and awards from all over the world. Moreover, she is CEO, no less, of her own company eDesign Technologies. Almost a brand of herself in webworld, Sreelakshmi is ambassador of an IT company and is on the director board and partner too.

Wikipedia notes that she has been noted as one of the youngest award winning web designers in the world. The Association of American Webmasters, who has made her a member of the society, testifies that she is their youngest and the only member under-18- years-of-age.

Ruling United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi honoured Sreelakshmi, fondly called Sreekutti, with National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement 2008 and a medal at a function held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi in the presence of the then Union Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury and Communications Minister A. Raja. Not just this proud national honour.

The honours list Sreelakhsmi received from all over the globe itself is impressive. Just take a look: Global Internet Directories Gold Award, American Webmasters Association Merit Award, Association of American Webmasters Official membership, Majon Web Select Seal of Excellence Award, Webmasters Ink Award for Excellence in Web Design, AIHC Platinum Award, WM8C Stamp of Excellence Award, 37th Texas Web Award, Mom’s Global Award for Inspirational Website 2006, Golden Web Award (all from the United States); Art Space World Web Award of Excellence 2006-07, Sixty Plus Education Award, Penmarric Bronze Award (all from Canada); Feeblemind’s Award of Excellence, La Luna Niche Best of the Web Award, The Webuilders TS Gold Award (from the United Kingdom); Planeta Foto Silver Award , Poetic Soul Award ( all from Brazil); and among others.

From India, Sreelakhmi was chosen as National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement 2008, Swadeshi Science Movement Excellence Award 2007, Thapasya Excellence Award 2007, Lions Clubs Big Achiever Award 2007 and 2008 and Varnam 2007 Puraskaaram, among others.
One of the honours given by Association of American Webmaster with its official membership is a rare that too for girls of her age.

When tiny-tots who play activity books or toys or cycles or glued to TV with Tom and Jerry, Ben10, Mr Bean et al, Sreekutti toyed with ‘mouse’ and a home PC. At four she was initiated into computers by her father who is a lawyer at Kozhikode bar and for past 3-4 years she immersed into web designing.

Open www.presentationhss.com Sreelakshmi’s first-ever web designed site, one will be impressed. A scroll read: This website designed by Sreelakshmi Suresh, the ‘Youngest Web Designer Girl of the World’, a class of IV, C division pupil.

The links on www.presentationhss.com show usual history, curriculum, admissions et al it also has a link ‘student enquiry’. Through this link parents can ask for information of their kid.

According to Suresh and Viju her parents, Sreekutti used to dabble with Microsoft’s paint and brush software programme for couple of hours and they directed her to do something different. Suresh linked her to the WWW and blogs.

Then, as they say, is history.

Her mother Viju had been quoted saying in local media that their girl baby took to ‘programmes like fish take to water’.

Sreelakshmi started began designing, as usual, with those of nears and dears, neighbours and finally ‘clicked’ to limelight by designing her school’s website.

So far she had designed a dozens include her own personal one www.sreekutty.com and as any other designer imagines, her dream is to make her www.tinylogo.com to be a logo based search engine!

Don’t be surprised Sreelakshmi is star in her school. And her teachers who support her all the way quip: “Sreelakshmi is an inspiration for grown-ups as well”.

All this Kerala prodigy seeks is only blessings from everyone.
