Women Do It All

The oldest woman here had fought for India's freedom. And the youngest well, girl, was barely five!

Twenty-one women from different walks of life were felicitated for their professional achievements on International Women's day, and Jai Shri Krishna's little Radha Vriti Vaghani was one of them. There were other young achievers felicitated too — budding theatre actress Shazahn Padamsee, who thanked her parents for making her the person she is and Raju Srivastav's daughter Antara Srivastav (who sure seems to be going her father's creative way!). Advocate Rohini Salian, actress Mugdha Godse and fitness expert Leena Mogre were among the other power women saluted.

Late Vijay Salaskar's wife Smita Salaskar gave a thought-provoking powerful speech; Dr Sonali Lokhande spoke about attending to the 26/11 victims at the
hospital that fateful night; Ramaben Shah was acknowledged for her unique talent of hand-moulding Ganesha idols blind-folded, and Manju Yagnik for her skills in corporate governance.

Entrepreneurs Kanchan Adhikari and Preeti Mehta, artist Vipta Kapadia, corporator Kokilaben Parmar and educationist Sangeeta Kamat were also felicitated. Viveck Shettyy anchored the afternoon while an all-woman
band entertained the guests during lunch. Womanhood, Jai Ho!
